Anyone starting, finishing or interrupting their journey on the Weißeritz Valley Railway in Dippoldiswalde, which is operated daily by steam locomotives, is warmly welcomed by the team at the ‘Bimmelbahn Shop’. The Wagner family runs a ticket agency in the two narrow-gauge railway carriages stationed at the loading ramp next to the station building in Dippoldiswalde, selling tickets, souvenirs and ‘travel provisions’ for a hearty Bimmelbahn ride.
As there is no longer a ticket office in the station building, the ‘Bimmelbahn Shop’ operates the local ticket agency for the Weißeritz Valley Railway here. If you still need a ticket for a train journey from Dippoldiswalde in the direction of Kurort Kipsdorf or Freital-Hainsberg, you can buy it before setting off in the closed passenger carriage, which also serves as a café.
The sales counter with souvenirs and additional seating is located in the neighbouring passenger coach 970-483, which was built in Bautzen in 1913. Both vehicles have been lovingly restored in the style of the German Reichsbahn and are available to the ‘Bimmelbahn-Shop’ on loan from the Sächsische Dampfeisenbahngesellschaft mbH (SDG) and the IG Weißeritztalbahn e.V. (the open carriage).
When the weather is fine, you can enjoy the incomparable steam railway atmosphere of the most important railway station on the Freital-Hainsberg - Kurort Kipsdorf line from the open carriage 97-10-12 - a ‘guest garden on rails’ - with a cup of coffee or another drink and a piece of cake or a hot snack.
The snacks on offer regularly include bockwurst, wieners, cake, ice cream and hot and cold drinks. At selected events, the Wagner family also offers bratwurst - information about this is provided on the homepage.
