The Rochlitz Mulde Valley, part of the CHEMNITZ. ZWICKAU. region, is characterised by the red Rochlitz porphyry tuff, Germany's first recognised natural stone world heritage site. The striking stone gives the architecture an unmistakable face and can be found in numerous castles and palaces. The impressive buildings are embedded in the idyllic river landscapes of Chemnitz, Zwickauer Mulde and Zschopau, surrounded by extensive forests. Numerous cycling and hiking trails invite you to explore, while tour guides tell exciting anecdotes from over 1000 years of history. Not to be forgotten: The special railway adventures of the local railway clubs. Cultural experiences such as those organised by the Central Saxon Summer of Culture bring the region to life in a unique way.
