Spotlight on the home of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025! Here, city and countryside merge, culture and industry come together and more than 20 palaces and castles sit enthroned in fascinating landscapes. In 2025, the European Capital of Culture region invites you to over 1000 events - a cultural programme from the grand opening to the finale in December.

Hike along the Purple Path and discover works of art scattered throughout the region. In addition to high-calibre exhibitions and interactive workshops, the Garage Campus awaits tinkerers. Whether sport or art, the region sets an example for peace with projects such as the European Peace Ride.

The history of the region is interspersed with magnificent castles and palaces. Discover the imposing Waldenburg Castle or the magnificent grounds in Glauchau and at Kriebstein Castle. Industrial history is deeply rooted here in the region, from the textile to the automotive industry. Experience how the world of work developed at the Chemnitz Industrial Museum. For car enthusiasts, the August Horch Museum offers a comprehensive insight into the roots of automotive history and shows the importance of the region as an automotive manufacturing centre. The Sachsenring is an annual focal point for motorsport fans from all over the world. And in Crimmitschau or the Esche Museum, you can experience the heyday of the textile industry.

Culturally, the region offers a colourful variety: the Capital of Culture year brings international events to Chemnitz and the surrounding area. Festivals such as the Hat Festival, KOSMOS Chemnitz and the Dance Festival make the region a centre for all culture lovers. Numerous smaller events such as the Night of the Palaces or the Begehungen art festival make the hearts of art lovers beat faster.
